Great brush not just for beginners.
I am a collector and painter of miniature Wargames. Usually painting 28mm scale models and figurines. I use this airbrush to sometimes basecoat, but it's mostly used for applying the dominant color and highlights before I go in with a detail brush. I own three master airbrushes and this purchase is the best of the three. Value The selection of needles is an $8 per needle value, and the quick release valve is another $8 deal. So for the accessories alone, this is something to consider given the extra body is always a good idea. Quality The gun itself is the best bang bang for the buck. After cleaning, use gun oil on the lever-hinges and the back part of the needle. You will end up with an dual action trigger that feels like it machined rather than casted. I suggest Hoppe's No. 9 Gun Bore Cleaner for its' cleaning/lubricating properties. What put this brush above its' cheaper cousins is that the needle is well protected. The G-22 comes with the air compressor $75 bundle and it looks very similar but the cap on the end has a bit less depth which allows you to bend the needle when holding your finger to it. (after mixing paint with a little brush, I hold the end and press the trigger to mix the bit of paint the brush doesn't get.) The G233's needle cap is deep and I have get to damage a needle. (Needles get bent all the time which causes paint the catch. If you cleaning the needle a lot then it needs to be straightened) Tips You do need to clean it well after each use, but make sure water isn't the last step. Airbrush cleaner or whatever else people recommend, but not water to prevent oxidizing cheaper components. Mentally plan for not mixing up needle sizes. Switching out the needles and tips can cause confusion. So label and separate accordingly. Don't use the wrench tighten the tips. Brass is extremely weak. Last Tip This gun is built and priced to not detonate your wallet. Parts and accessories are priced cheap as well and are even cheaper when you see that other brands make compatible parts. Enjoy
