We have a large dog who destroyed our carpet between his feet being muddy, occasionally getting sick, eating/chewing random things... Basically everything we can expect a large dog to do in terms of damaging carpet. We bought this as a last attempt before replacing carpet. We have tried so many products and they either didn't clean effectively or left the carpet crunchy/weird texture afterwards. This vacuum was easy to use and I am shocked at how well it cleaned the layers and layers of stain. If you have pet stains of any kind - this is well worth the investment!
