Information The Documentary Didn't Provide and Questions That Need Answering...
Some answered questions and thoughts... First let me say you can read the Police report, Toxicology and Autopsy reports by doing a search using Diane Schuler Police Report....then click the link for the website Autopsyfiles dot org. I'll start this by answering some information I noticed people asking in their own reviews to try and help clear at least those questions. Did the toxicology show Ambien in her system? No. No prescription or over counter medication was found in her system. Her blood, urine, stomach and organs were all tested. This includes her brain. Did The Family Speak With Police? NO After the wreck both the Schuler's and the Hance's refused to give police statements and got lawyers. Daniel lawyered up and continued to cancel his appointments to sit down and give an interview. He did this until the press conference he requested and is shown in the documentary. It was after that, that he sat down with police. At the time the report was released the Hance's had not spoken with police. But We Hear An Officer Say He Talked With Jacky? The Hance's (who's friend's 911 call is in the documentary) called 911 to attempt to get an Amber Alert out after they could not find Diane. NOT after hanging up with Diane. In fact you hear him on with 911 state Jacky is freaking out becuase she can't remember her license plate number. Amber Alert's require as much information about the vehicle as possible. It was also during the time they were trying to locate her that the officer you see in the Documentary asked Jacky if Diane had health problems or any known drug problems. So no one hung up the phone and called 911 after hearing a van full of children crying, knowing something was seriously wrong with Diane. All calls came after they went looking for Diane and could not find her. This (in my opinion) could very well be why both sides of the family wouldn't talk to police with out lawyers. Had the side who heard the kids crying and heard Diane's slurred speech called 911 immediately there would have been time for cars to look/watch out for Diane before she ever got on the Taconic. Which in turn could have also saved those 3 men Diane killed. Did Diane Really Ask For Pain Medication At The Sunoco Gas Station? Absolutely NO ONE at the station would speak to police or their investigators. Do you remember Jay saying in the Documentary "If she stopped for pain medication something was wrong, IT WAS BAD." Let's stop and ask ourselves, What convenience store of that caliber does not carry Pain medication? Why did she not stop for pain medication in the many hours after leaving the Sunoco Gas/Convenience store? Why did she walk into the store, only looking at the back coolers and walls where drinks would be located, speak a single sentence and walk out if she was really looking for Tylenol or Ibuprofen? I personally believe Diane never asked for it. The video has no audio. So, the Schuler family, in trying to paint a picture of Diane being in medical distress cooked that up through their paid "investigator" Tom Ruskin. It's strange how the police could not get the employee to talk to them (as stated in their report) but the Schuler's miraculously could and that statement amazingly fits their picture. Is Tom Ruskin Trustworthy? Here is just a fraction of the controversy surrounding Tom, you decide if you would believe anything he says. Tom has had all of his licenses removed. He has been banned from practicing. He has been arrested for stealing a woman's purse from a high end store. He is also in trouble for laundering money and is on his way to jail/court for that. Tom only cares about money and will get it any way he possibly can. You pay him, he will produce some wild claim to try to help you with your case. He is the Schuler's talking head and he did a whole lot of talking. For instance, he tried to claim Diane got drunk off of Anbesol. A numbing medication for tooth aches you apply to the tooth. Usually with a Q-Tip. Numerous experts and Pfizer had to step out and state Anbesol DOES NOT contain the same form of alcohol that you drink or that which was found in the Toxicology report. Tom didn't even bother to look at the back of the box to read ingredients before making such a huge claim. . Tom tried to claim Diane's body burned so much that her sugar turned to super high levels of alcohol thus causing the readings in the Toxicology. That is not possible either. Diane's body was not burned nearly enough to cause any changes to her system. When one thing doesn't work he throws out another. A man who has been paid tens of thousands of dollars by this family. Who is supposed to be a Hot Shot at investigating things like this. The only thing I have ever believe out of Tom's mouth was the fact that the lab got Diane's tissue, tested it and it came out the same as the State's finding. Seatbelts: Was Diane wearing a seat belt? Yes. The autopsy report goes into the injuries on her body and although her injuries were extreme, I do see evidence of the seat belt being worn from gashes that went in many inches where the belt would run on the body. Was Anyone Ejected From The Van? NO Children were all pulled from the van. Witnesses saw children laying on the grass due to the quick actions of the people who stopped that day and pulled everyone from the van quickly. Those witnesses passed on what they feel they saw, which again looked like the children had been ejected. The van is in such terrible shape it easily could have looked like it rolled. The police report and investigation cemented the seat belt-no ejection by calling in an expert to evaluate everything. NO ONE was ejected from the van. You can even see a seat belt clicked into it's retainer in photos of the van shown in this documentary. Why Does Bryan Claim To Have Flown Out Of The Car? The story Jay tells of Bryan claiming to have been ejected is false. So how are we to believe his claims (via Jay) that his mother's head hurt and she couldn't see? A child with a traumatic brain injury would not remember the entire day let alone what his mother mumbled in a drunken stupor in the front seat of the car. It's obvious this family simply does not care to do any investigating of their own unless it benefits their story. Unfortunately they are using an innocent child to do so. Or maybe they are not but simply being negligent when speaking about it in front of Bryan who is picking up what they are claiming happened. Why No Police Search Of Bank Records/Receipts? That would be great however they have no legal basis to be able to get a search warrant of their bank accounts. She was drinking, they have the evidence for that. She is dead now, she will not be going to jail and there is no case against her. So we are left with the family. Do you trust them? The same people who battled Dr. Werner Spitz. One of America's most respected medical examiners? Who REFUSED to take anything he had to say too? I felt that was the most embarrassing park of the documentary for the family. Interesting Photo of Erin? Just something that took me back a bit. In the documentary they look at a photo album supposedly put together by Daniel for Bryan (which I do not believe, Diane made books of photos) there is a picture of Erin holding a beer bottle. Bryan actually points it out and says "LOOK!". Jay quickly tries to point out the photo of the pumpkin patch. If I was making a photo album of my child who was killed due to alcohol, for my surviving son...the last thing I would include is his dead sister holding a bottle of beer. Pina Colada lies: Remember there has been at least 3 versions of the Vodka bottle story from Daniel. The "I don't know" the "We had it in the camper, I'm surprised it was in the van" and the "We took it back and forth with us". On Larry King, in answer to the question as to why the bottle was in the van Daniel gave the "I'm surprised it was in there" Jay pipes in claiming they drank "Pina Coladas by the camp fire". Pina Coladas are made with Rum not Vodka. It's not a campfire drink. Daniel also told the police (view the report) that if Diane did drink she would have a Pina Colada. There photos in the documentary with beer in her hands. Diane a Binge Drinker & Was the Bottle in her Purse? After doing a lot of research and reading the experiences from Binge Drinking Mothers and family, it is not at all hard to believe that Diane was a binge drinker. Functioning alcoholics drive with her kids in the car, sometimes not even remembering what they did that entire day. They can do every day tasks as their tolerance builds including work. And some even claim to drive better when they are drunk. Which is not right but this is what an alcoholic believes. A person not used to drinking daily would not have the ability to drink the amount Diane had in her system when she died. Certainly not to drive straight, wrong side of the road or not. Absolutely not with Pot on board. Diane Schuler was able to do so. The purse: In the documentary pause it at the photo of the Vodka bottle. You will see what looks like her purse laying on it's side surrounding the bottle, with the bottle in front and the rest of the purse/contents behind it. The brown leather straps that were on the outside of the purse are present and you can even see the end of a zipper. Sitting sideways is also some paperwork that did not fully burn in the fire, again possibly protected by being inside of her purse. Stuffed in a perfect angle just as her purse would be laying. The Vodka bottle is sitting in or close to her purse. When did Diane start drinking? I have no doubt she was drinking long before the accident. I believe it was at least by the time she left the gas station and probably even when she left McDonald's with her large OJ. Oh and about the OJ... There is a photo of Diane standing inside of the McDonald's. She is holding two large drinks. Information I read stated she got a large Orange Juice and Iced Coffee separate from the kids' meals. In her hands you see the cup they would put the iced coffee in. The other was the kind of cup the orange juice would be in. Orange Juice is one of the drinks of choice for those who binge drink Vodka. It helps it go down a lot easier. Why The Pot? Daniel is so adamant that she did not smoke that day. I ask, what difference does it make? She was not driving home from the grocery store. She was driving home from a weekend where she was in charge of 5 children. She didn't just carry it around with her. And I'm sure the campground doesn't have a Pot garden for paying guests. She took care of the 5 children that weekend in possession of Pot. Is it Possible Diane Never Mixed the Two Before? This thought hit me recently. If she was a binge drinker (something a believe was very possible) she may have usually consumed alcohol in the morning/day. And the pot at night to sleep. Being an alcoholic she can still function but mixing it with the pot it may very well have been the mix that pushed her completely off the rails. Pot helps with Nausea. Whatever was causing her to be sick, she might have tried to relieve it with the Pot. Why didn't Diane Stay put, why Leave The Route? It goes along with Diane's control issues. She left becuase she didn't want her family finding out she was drunk. From witness statements she seemed pretty determined. Hyper focused even. When Emma called and said something with wrong with Diane, the kids in the back were crying but Diane gets on the phone to say "They're fine, they're playing and having fun". Then left the phone on the side of the road before leaving her route. So even drunk, stoned, vomiting and driving like a maniac Diane Schuler was still trying to hide any problem from her family. Was Diane Upset that Day? I've always wondered if something set her off that day. The Bastardi family have also made mention that they want to know what really happened that weekend with Daniel and the kids. It's strange that she would take so long to get home (before she became extremely drunk leaving the route). And the 911 operator stated in Diane's brother in-law's call that her voice mail said Hance not Schuler. If you are married for over a decade, had two children, were legally known as Schuler including on your own work I.D. would your voice mail identify you as Hance? It makes you wonder if something happened between her and Daniel and she finally blew. Was Daniel cheating and she found out? That is an extremely out of control feeling that would easily set her off to drink more than her usual and smoke to help calm her nerves or nausea due to upset. It's something that has continued to haunt me and it seems the Bastardi family as well. We don't really know what was said in those phone calls that day. The only ones who know are the ones who are refusing to speak or refuse to speak the truth. We don't know what happened that weekend. Exhumed body: The fact that the body has not been exhumed even today speaks volumes. It's possible that after all of the test results, the specialists, the backlash...that it's finally sunk. They can not try to twist reality anymore. Exhuming Diane may just cement the truth. Now the new route for the Schuler's has become the law suits. Lawsuits: Daniel has been very busy suing. His brother in-law who lost 3 girls got sued for not keeping the van in good mechanical condition. The Bastardi's who lost 3 people are being sued for not having someone in good health at the wheel. And of course the city, for not putting proper signs at the exit ramp. Could Signs At The Offramp Have Helped? NO Signs are posted however, let's say no signs existed at all. What about the many, many people who had to swerve out of her way with horns blaring? That didn't clue her in! It's mind boggling the things this family is doing. Maybe Daniel should sue himself for not calling 911 immediately instead of going to hunt for his drunk, high wife? My heart goes out to all families effected by this tragedy. Unfortunately I feel the Schuler and Hance family have a lot more questions to answer and I hope someday those questions or more honest information will be released from the family to help all parties face the truth and put it all to rest. Until then we are left to wonder a lot of things. What was REALLY discussed in those phone calls? What really happened that weekend? I just want to say, if anyone from the family does read this. PLEASE STOP using Bryan as an excuse for continuing to drag this out and hurt the Bastardi's. Bryan has enough to deal with now and will continue to absorb more as he grows. You can not control the entire internet. Stop claiming you are doing these silly things for Bryan. Do not disgrace his family name further by acting like fools. And... unless you decide to be more honest and start handing out some apologies to the Bastardi's and bring clarity to this situation I beg you to stay private. It's continuing to hurt the Bastardi's and will be a bigger impact on Bryan. Let the media fiasco end. R.I.P to all of the children and to the obviously wonderful men who left this world together. No matter their age, they all were taken far too soon.
