Just How Easy is this Release?
Like many of the uncultured masses, I previously didn't put too much thought into the subject of ice trays. However, I have stepped up my ice tray game because of many broken promises over the years by inferior products. As philyodaddy fans are well aware I have had my ups and downs with the Arrow Plastic 00055 Ice Cube Trays (Pack of 2) so I purchased these badboys for a larger ice cube to throw in myRubbermaid FG2862RDWHT Servin' Saver Ice Cube Bin
I'm sure this sounds like a joke, but amazon pro's can see all of the linked items are verified purchases. I wonder if that makes it better or worse? Anyway, I digress.
I hate not having an ice maker, but these trays make it a tiny bit better. I have the standard 3 criteria ("3D" as tray-pro's call them) when reviewing an ice tray: Difficulty of Use, Durability, and Dimensions:
Difficulty of use: 8.5/10 - The ice comes out without having to apply my super human wrist strength. Good for mere mortals. Hence the "Easy Release" moniker attached to this product line.
Durability: 9/10 (subject to change of course) - I have yet to break one of these. The crappy ice trays always break. I honestly believe it is intentional to make us buy more of them.
Dimensions: 7.69/10 - They are a little big for the ice chewers among us but they excel at keeping the drink at a delightfully cool temperature. Not the super jumbo size that all ice users loathe. Because they are a little larger girth than I prefer, I tend to combine some of these with the Arrow small guys (linked above) in my drinks so i can have the "best of both worlds" (like the fatally flawed R. Kelly and Jay Z Tour).
This is the highest 3D score I have found in my foray into the ice tray world. 1 star is deducted because $18 for 4 puts the average cost over my "maximum acceptable ice tray cost" of $4/piece. $18 for crappy plastic is ridiculous. I can buy Filets for days for $18.
4 Stars.
