This replaced another type of water bottle/bowl combination and is a success. I like the ample size of both the bottle itself and the bowl, and while it took me a couple of uses to remember to push the button to close it afterwards, it actually works well with no leakage. The bowl lays neatly against the bottle and you have to flip it up, using your hands, but you don’t have to remove it to use it like some other bottles I’ve seen. After your dog drinks her full, you can let the unused water drain back into the bottle; a small amount won’t go back in, but it’s a negligible amount and I just push the button to close it and then toss that little bit on the nearest plant before flipping the bowl back over. It is a large bottle, so it doesn’t sit in my pack’s pocket made for water bottles, but it does have a finger loop that I use to carry it on shorter walks and can slip a carabiner through on longer or more vigorous hikes. Most importantly, my dog drinks the water from this bottle, whereas she would refuse water from one of the other ones I bought (it had a plastic body and a rigid bowl that sat on top).
