Terrible prints, until I made one adjustment
I was ready to throw this printer out the window....the color prints of photos were miserably pale. Worst prints I've ever had from a printer! After hours of fiddling, reading the manual, trying everything, I finally found the solution.... for my PC running Windows 7, and another PC running Windows 10, I needed to disable the ICM. This stands for "Image Color Matching" and it's a program used by Windows to get the colors right for devices such as printers or scanners. The option to turn it off is buried deep....so I've given directions below on how to find it. Also, I've attached a photo of the box you need to find. Once it's turned off, you don't have to do it again. I've also attached a photo of my cat, printed before I disabled the ICM (all faded out), and after I disabled it (much better). I would give this printer five stars, but I still a bit steamed about the lack of guidance to make this fix. Here are the steps to follow: 1. Initiate printing. On this first page, select “Options” 2.When you get the “Print Settings” pop-up box, select the link, “Printer Properties” 3. Under the “Quick Setup” tab, select “Photo Printing” and your paper size and paper type (Don’t click OK yet) 4. Under the “Page Setup” tab, select the page orientation (portrait or landscape), and the page layout (select “Normal-size”) Again, don’t press OK yet. 5. At the bottom of this page, click the “Print Options” button. In the pop-up box, you’ll see that all the options are not selected. The only change you’ll make is to select “Disable ICM required from the application software”. Just click on the little box, and a check mark will appear. If you want to read about this item, or all the other options, click the “Help” button. Ever since I made that change, prints are beautiful. Good luck!
