I purchased this item after an earthquake destroyed another one for emergencies. Well I’m in need so I purchased this after being unable to find a better option in stores in Anchorage, AK. Was pleasantly surprised with its quality and was quick to boil water, did a quick boil test as well as making sure to burn off manufacturing coating on the heating element, as suggested by its paperwork. Was quick to get rid of the smell. The surrounding base was hot to the touch but still able to move the burner while it’s still in use. The four legs did not heat up to damage any solid surface of my countertop. Plan to use when traveling to use in hotel room for late night meals and/or breakfast meals while hunkered down in Fairbanks. Much better quality than what I had previously and cheaper. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase. I’ll end up buying another for my teenage son when he goes off to college. Will update about its longevity after some use...
