Beware nay sayers
I was impressed with the number of 5-star ratings given to this blanket. But I did my usual practice of reading the reviews that gave it the lowest ratings. Here are my comments about some of their complaints.
1) When I received the blanked, it did NOT have any odor--of formaldehyde or otherwise--as some complained. I immediately washed and dried it as I usually do with newly purchased textile products, and it washed and dried just fine. And it still had no odor.
2) The herringbone pattern of the weave is a tight weave rather than a knit like most of the light cotton blankets I have seen. Therefore it is not stretchy or porous like a knit. Some complained that it is not soft. It is true that it is not soft in the sense that a knit is soft. It has a tight weave like a sheet, but its thickness is more substantial than a sheet, and like a cotton sheet, it is not hard or stiff. I think it is just right for my purposes--to use in the warmer seasons rather than the comforter I use in the colder seasons.
3) Some complained that is was not properly sized for the size of their mattress. I bought the queen size, and I think its drop down the side and foot of my queen mattress is just right.
4) One reviewer complained that it is not heavy enough for winter, and another complained that it was too heavy for that buyer's warm climate. I do not think it is intended to provide by itself enough warmth during cold weather; it's a LIGHT blanket. I live where summer nights can be very hot, and when they are, I sleep under just a sheet or without any cover at all. This blanket over a sheet is just the right amount of cover for the currently cool spring nights were I live.
It is a good looking blanket. I am very pleased with my purchase.
