Good Little Chipper
Product arrived quickly and was easy to assemble. I put it right to work and have waited a several months before writing this review. It works great for a light weight chipper. It cuts with a horizontal spinning lawn-mower type blade (like a food slicer) and quickly chips through green wood up to 1-1/2 inches. If the wood is very dry or a hard wood, it won't take this diameter. It makes small chips of most material--just right for the compost pile or to use as mulch. However, small branch ends will slip through the blade horizontally leaving many 6" twigs. Likewise, the last part of thicker branches will fall horizontally as they go through the blade, resulting in 4 to 5 inch slices. The hopper is designed to limit diameter while at the same time allowing side branches to pass through. However, large pine cones are difficult to get in and have to be fed one at a time with a mallot. Narrower cones go in easily--like spruce cones. This chipper is not designed to mulch leaves, so mow and collect your leaves like grass clippings. When the blade dulls, it is designed to be flipped (although removal may require super-powers). Order an extra blade when you buy the chipper so you will have one to put on while you sharpen the old one. I have chipped prunings from our residential lot (three fruit trees and grapes), the removal of five large bushes, several bushels of pinecones (from a neighbor) and some of my neighbors clippings. One blade did the season, but because of the design, it dulls fairly fast. I would recommend this product for home use. Lawnmaster customer service is fabulous, by the way. I talked to them before buying and also to order an extra blade.
