I'm a boot guy, who took a gamble...
Ok, so i read a lot of reviews. I spend 10 grand a year on Amazon, and I've never left a review for a product before. Normally, people cover the topics that matter, so I've always felt like being reviewer # 1,009 at the bottom of the list was pointless, but on these shoes, the 8 reviews before mine weren't hacking it, so here it is. I'm a boot guy. I don't wear sneakers or dress shoes, i wear boots, period. I've got six pairs of Red Wings, three pairs or Timberland Pro (both solid companies and known, quality boots) but these Golden Fox boots are awesome. Look, if you want to drop $300 bucks an some Heritage Classics, you know what you'll get. Personally, i think Red Wing has gone downhill over the last decade, but they still crank out some 1/2 American, 1/2 Chinese quality boots, but they're overpriced. Timberland, Danner, Chippewa... they're all good boots, with a good look, but these Golden Fox boots are just as well made. There's no getting around this fact, so stop trying to... "You get what you pay for" and pound for pound, these boots are a solid buy. I wear Red Wing insoles in all my boots. Insoles, if you've never tried them, are the difference between a good fit and a great fit. I slip them into everything i put on my feet, so they all feel the same on my arch. These boots are good looking. The leather inst that plastic-crap that comes on lesser boots. They're thick, well sewn and the sole is far thicker than Red Wing or Wolverine, (i own the moc-toe versions of both) Now, as your fashion consultant... any jeans, dark, light... (just go easy on the bedazzled back-flap pockets, fellas... these boots will make you look good. They are a timeless look. When you look back on pictures taken of you today in these boots, ten years from now you'll still hold up.(think Jack Nicholson in Easy Rider- Google it if that doesn't mean anything to you) As they break in, they get better. They don't darken, the leather looks worn and tested. You literally cant go wrong. some boots are too pointed in the toe, others don't have the girth or the thickness to make your foot feel solid inside of them. Spend $50 and get yourself some insoles. that's the difference between good and great! the color is almost exact, the fit is right and you already know the price is good. Buy them. Men shouldn't be wearing white sneakers with blue jeans, in case no one's told you yet. You wife will love you more, and even if you work behind a cubicle, you'll get a nod at the Home Depot from the roughnecks in the parking lot or props from the brothers at that nice restaurant. I'm buying another pair immediately. Every time i like a boot, the damn things get discontinued (Yeah you Red Wing!) for $80 bucks shipped to your door in three days, you'd be crazy to drop three bills on Red Wing. Good for you Golden Fox. I've read thousands of reviews, it's the reason i shop Amazon. It's about time i found a cause worthy of the time to write this. Jeans, a plain V-neck t-shirt (no stupid Affliction style graphics for the love of God!) and these boots. Good fitting aviators or Wayfarers and you'll look back on pictures ten years from now and think you were once a badass. Buy them for men everywhere... take those Chuck Taylor's or slip-on moccasin-jock-water shoe whatever they are's off, and step up. It's time to look like men again. Oh, and I'm serious about the bedazzled jeans... you look like an idiot. Hope this helps someone who's on the fence about these boots. You were right to look at them, now push "one click" and take a step toward timeless-manliness.
