Accurate and Easy to Read. Correct range for auto and light truck tires.
First of all it's important to buy an air chuck in the correct range. Air pressure gauges are most accurate in the middle of their range. If your tires run about 35 to 40 pounds, the ideal gauge would have an 80 pound range. This one, at 100 psi is just over that, but I have some light truck tires that are inflated to 42 psi, so we'll call this one close enough to perfect. Digital air chucks with 200 or 250 psi ranges might seem like a better deal, but they are actually better suited to 100 to 125 psi applications, far above the range of most auto tires.
NO BATTERIES NEEDED! Another bonus with analog air chucks. The 2" gauge has a clear, easy to read face, with photo luminescence for nightime use. Out of the box, I checked it against two different digital air pressure gauges, with no discrepancy noted. If you need half-pound accuracy (or better), you'll want a digital air chuck, but for most passenger cars and light trucks, the one-pound scale divisions are good enough. And again, be mindful of the pressure range if you go digital.
Mine was shipped with an Industrial (Milton "M") style quick connect. If you use Truflate (or another system) you'll need to source the correct fitting for your particular application. I like this air chuck so much I bought two: one for my shop and one for my garage.
