The Missing Ingredient
For several years now I have been designing, printing, crafting, and binding my own yearly planners. So every first week of January or so, I'd head down to Staples or OfficeMax with a bundle of inkjet printed pages complete with all the trimmings (tab dividers, numerous pieces of card stock, pocket dividers, and sheet protectors, etc.) for to be spiral punched and bound. Every year I'd have to take stuff out to meet the store's biggest spiral available. I'd have planners that I'd be satisfied with, but they weren't wonderful enough to merit a centerfold display.
Earlier this month the same scene replayed itself-not enough spiral space for all the contents. So fine, I was going to try a binder system this year. But when I got home, the binder idea just wasn't feeling it. So I thought, well maybe I'll give the discbound system a go. Yes, happiness and creative vibes started humming! I went back to Staples, purchased this punch, the arc 1.5" aluminium discs and came home my brain synapses aglow. This punch handled it all: 2 pieces of pink foil cardstock glued back to back and covered with 10 mil laminate? No problem! A 5-tabbed set of page protectors punched individually? No sweat! A letter-sized Day-Timer vinyl zip pouch? Piece of cake! Plastic 3-ring binder tabbed divider bookmarks reinforced with packing tape! Bring it on!
I have found my planner happy place-thanks to a whole puncher?! But you get the idea. When I walk by my planner and see it lying there in all its beauty, I get the same feeling towards it that some egomaniacs must feel when they walk by a mirror and stop to admire themselves-perhaps even give themselves a heartfelt compliment. Lol I am confident that with this beast I will be able to make disc system planners for years to come. And I will also be able to reuse most of the add-on items (should they survive the constant admiration and stroking lol) next year.
