Bit of a warning.... there is definitely 'Too Much Information' in this review... and I am not so comfortable sharing it.... but... in case there is someone else with the same or similar issues, this might help. First off... I began taking PBE a couple of years ago after reading that it helps with blood flow. My family all seem to have heart issues and I was hoping to avoid the surgeries that my brothers have endured. At that time, I researched this quite heavily.... actually read some of the studies that were done on the brand name 'Pycnogenol'. It made no sense to me that their product was necessarily superior to others that use the same specie of pine bark (French Maritime aka Pinus pilaster). When I had read those studies I remember reading that some of the participants in the study noticed improvements in some other specific areas that were not focused on in the study. One of those was a certain number reported that their 'gum issues' had improved. That may be directly associated with the improved blood flow... but truth be told... I noticed the same. After laying off the PBE for over a year due to Stage 4 Lymphoma and going through all that Chemo stuff... I found that the medicines that the doc had me on was making my mouth so dry during the night that it was driving me nuts! I mean... drinking water several times during the night did not even have an effect. I felt like my teeth were going to fall out because my mouth was so dry. So 3 or 4 months ago I purchased a bottle of the name branded Pycnogenol and that seemed to help a little after a couple of week's use. Those pills were fairly small and only had 100 mg in each. Once they ran out I repurchased this Horbaach brand and the dry mouth improved more. Don't get me wrong... I still wake up dry... but now it is much more bearable. Major improvement. So.. it might be worth a try if you suffer from dry mouth. Now the part that has me sold on PBE (and this brand in particular) is what I warned you about in the headline. So, last chance to stop reading. (-: In those studies I mentioned earlier, one of the 'side benefits' that some of the participants claimed was improvement of their 'hemmorrhoids'. I had been wearing black underwear for the last couple of years because of bleeding hemmorrhoids. Sometimes just a bit of blood... but too often... it looked more like a miscarriage. I asked the doc and he is the one that told me it was probably just hemmorrhoids.. after the colonoscopy was clear. Anyway... once I started back taking these PBE capsules a couple of months ago... the bleeding has almost completely stopped. I don't remember the last time I saw a spot of blood. I know it sounds like a crazy claim... and I can not prove the 'cause and effect'... but the timing is quite 'coincidental' and the fact that some folk from the study noticed improvement... well, that might make it worth a try if you suffer from that ailment. Truly sorry for the TMI... but maybe there is someone out there that can benefit from this 'reveal'.
