Action packed freedom fighting spy thriller!
Full disclosure: I was asked to proofread this novel. I don't mind disclosing that, because as most proofreaders know, sometimes you have to read things that suck. This does not suck.
This is a fast paced, action packed, post apocalyptic spy thriller, in essence. But instead of the US vs the USSR, it's the US vs a frightening version of the US that anybody who's tried to grocery shop in Los Angeles County can easily imagine. The difference is, the free US feels bad for the post apocalyptic US, & is trying to help (sort of).
I say "post apocalyptic" because although there is no nuke war or alien invasion or zombie hoarde, it is the inevitable result of the communism my ancestors endured. Religious suppression, starvation, loss of purchased property are all real things real people endure under communism, & many Americans really don't understand that. Schlichter illustrates this in a way that's entertaining &, sometimes, very funny.
This will also probably anger & upset some folks. That's ok. If something annoys you, examine those feelings. If you can't, enjoy the many explodey things.
