I love my wife’s cooking and she loves cooking with cast iron pans. Since she’s the cook I’m the dish washer. I also love cast iron pans but I’ve been trying to find a good way to clean them. They are Lodge pans and I’ve used the Lodge scrapers but it was still a pain and they left to much baked on residue. So I decided to try the stainless steel chainmail route. I couldn’t be happier. My wife made cheese burgers and some cheese and stuff was baked into the pan. As you see it has a raised grilling surface. I didn’t get to the pan until the next day. I slightly warmed up the pan and went to work on it. Effort was about the same or a little less than with the scrapers but the result was a much cleaner pan even between the raised grill surfaces. My wife walked through the kitchen later and was shocked to see how clean the pan was and even commented on it. You can see how the chainmail looks after cleaning. Clean up of the stainless steel chainmail was just as easy. A little dawn soap, shuffled it around in my hand and rinsed. I was happy with the overall process and won’t dread cleaning another cast iron pan. I only wish I had gotten it sooner and not waited for the price to drop.
