I like this "plunger style" design of bottom drain fat separator. I have had the disk style, you know the ones that have a disk at the bottom that slide in/out as you squeeze the handle. Plunger style like this one has a simple arm/plunger that seals the hole at the bottom - it open with a lever action thumb/tab at the top of the handle. This item comes apart and cleans easily. It can be cleaned in the dishwasher. I just don't do that as I don't want to risk any warping. That said this unit is the best I've used over the years. PLUS - a 1 year warranty. My first unit developed a crack around the hole at the bottom that eventually traveled to the point that it started to leek. Vendor provided a replacement. This is the best bottom drain seperator on the market IMHO. I always test to make sure the plunger is seated properly before initial use and never have had to touch it after that. And I'm talking about several gallons of work. So great product and customer service. My only wish is that I could get a bigger version that does say 2 quarts :-)
