I have been trying not to apply any heat to my hair and these curlers are great! They curl my hair very nicely and I love it! In the picture I used the largest size (purple) to curl my hair and brushed it out for a more wavy look. My hair was slightly damp when I put them in and I did sleep on them. If you place them in the right spot sleeping on them is fine but other than that they are pretty uncomfortable. Also If you're not wanting to sleep in them it took my hair about and hour and half to dry to hold the curl in these flex rods. These are great and I am happy with my purchase.
