I purchased these candles for my elderly mother. I painted the inside of her fireplace since it was no longer used as a traditional fireplace. We arranged these candles on the floor of the fireplace as well as a mix of glittered pine cones and artificial chestnuts that I scattered in and around the candle arrangement. I placed all the batteries inside the candles, following the directions, and using the remote we set the timer for 4 hours run time. My mom knows that every day at 5:10 pm the candles will light and then is assured as well that after running for 4 hours, they turn themselves off. It's perfect for her, there is no fuss whatsoever, and they have come on every day exactly as they should since we set them up. She likes to keep them on the flickering mode as it is a more realistic effect bouncing off the walls of the inside of her painted fireplace. We bought a large box of 50 AA batteries that we keep in the closet for when we may need them. I believe she will be using these year round.It's so darn cozy in her little place. For the price, these are a great deal, my mom loves them.
