7 cans of spray paint later, I got the look I wanted... beautiful!!!
I used this to spray paint the cushions on a nursery glider that had been badly damaged by bleach stains. I knew that in order to achieve an all over "natural look" I would need to remove the original denim color, otherwise everywhere that I spray painted over the bleach stains would always be lighter than the rest of it. So, I used RIT color remover to soak both cushions and draw out the original dye. I let cushions dry completely to which they were a light bluish/green all over when I started spray painting. This stuff is great... it's really easy to use and covers really well. Be careful not to put too much on at a time. Patience is key here. Let the coats dry in between and then go back and cover it again... I painted them outside in the woods while hanging cushions off a hanger and then moved them to the sun to dry between coats... drys fast! I wore gloves because it can be a little messy, but no messier than normal spray paint. The only thing is that one can doesn't cover much so be prepared to go through a lot if you want that rich navy color. I used 7 cans of spray paint and got the exact color I wanted in the end. New cushions would have cost me upwards of $125, but I maybe have $75 total invested between the 8 boxes of RIT color remover I had to use and the 7 cans of spray paint. Plus, no one offers navy cushions which is what I wanted because it's the accent color of the nursery - so I am very, very happy with the way this all turned out. Saved some money and got the color I wanted! By the way... the feel of the cushions afterwards is a little stiff but no one would ever know, it really just seems like a thicker fabric. Couldn't be happier!
