LENS treatments (neurofeedback), PTSD, Anxiety, ADHD, Nightmares
This review is my own and was not requested or solicited in anyway from any source below. It is a long review in order to help those that might be suffering on a more severe level. I go into some details in hopes of helping even just one person. I suffer from PTSD, anxiety, ADHD and a lifetime of Nightmares/tares. I was getting LENS Treatment but it was costing me over $100 a session. The lens treatment takes around 5 to 7 min. for the therapist to set it up, and the treatment last around 30 seconds or less. The results however were profound. I was skeptical to try this treatment but at the same time desperate for help that might actually do something for me, and after just one session I noticed a significant change, and after several more treatments the changes just kept getting better. I had no idea just how much I was suffering until I experienced relief. People often tell people that are suffering from depression to get up and start doing things and it will solve itself, or they are depressed because they lay in bed all day, thereby creating the problem themselves. I would have not even considered myself depressed as I was taught mental illness is made up, and no one suffers from it. I was taught people make it up. I was taught this at a young age and therefore believed it for the better part of my life. All I can say is I made myself do all the things I was supposed to do daily. No one would have considered me depressed including myself. I never lay in bed, but I will admit I wanted to. It is exhausting forcing a smile, pretending to laugh when others laugh but I will admit I have spent a lifetime doing this. When I was out all I could think about was wishing I were back home. I confided in one of my friends years back, saying: “I don’t know what it means to have fun.” and they didn't understand that statement so I just dropped it. I had no idea that others didn't feel the same as myself. This was my normal, and all I ever knew. After several LENS sessions I realized I enjoyed cooking, something I had detested before. So many things became enjoyable. Naturally I found myself having fun or enjoying myself, a very foreign concept to me before the LENS treatments. The LENS treatments for me personally feel like they remove some heavy film or static like feeling from over my brain. A peace washes over me. However after a few months I was very much in debt and my credit cards maxed out. I could no longer afford more treatments and as the horror of the feelings began to settle back over me I began a search for some other form of treatment. Something that might help me so I wouldn’t have to suffer again. I didn't want to slip back into the hell I had been living all my life. Having experienced the changes I was now more desperate then ever to not slip back into that lifestyle. I wake up each morning with severe anxiety attacks. I toss and turn and can’t sleep. One of my searches led me to this unit: The David Delight Pro. It was expensive but the reviews seemed promising. It would cost me about 5 weeks worth of treatments but perhaps be longer lasting. So I ordered the unit, as well as the extra nice glasses. My glasses don’t work but I can’t make myself call in and complain so I just use the unit minus the glasses. I found one setting that works for me best and I use it each and every morning for a full hour. I wake to severe anxiety attacks each morning and now I place my David Delight headset on and play games on my iPad for an hour while I listen. By the end of the hour, really the first 20 to 30 min on most days my anxiety is gone. But I enjoy the full hour so I listen until it shuts itself off. After the session ends I feel serene, calm, and at peace. I can start my morning projects with a real smile, and the best part is I get to enjoy my day. I also suffer from nightmares or night terrors. About a week into using this unit, I awoke around 2am in the mornings with one of my nightmares, I knew if I fell back asleep the nightmare would simply start up right where it left off. I’ve tried staying up for 20 min. drinking cold water, eating something, and nothing helps. Once the nightmares start they stay with me for that night. But, I had a thought this night, so I reached for my David Delight Pro and slid it on, and allowed myself to simply go back to sleep. I awoke the next morning and to my great surprise the nightmares had not continued. Now, each time I awake to nightmares I slip on my David Delight Pro and they simply stop. Unless you suffer from night terrors or nightmares the relief of being able to escape this won’t make sense. But being able to fall back asleep and no longer have these awful nightmares is life changing. It is not noted on their site that it helps for this but for me it is a wonderful relief and I’m thrilled I stumbled on it. I hope it will help others. The setting I use for this: (Happy Face - #4) incase anyone who suffers from nightmares would like to try it too, or if you have kids that suffer from nightmares it might be worth a try. As a child I was tormented by the thought of going to sleep out of my fear of these night terrors. If this can help even one child that suffers from nightmares then this review will have been worth it. To me there is no describing how much these children suffer. I also use the unit to help me with ADHD and focusing and it’s a huge help. The David Delight Pro also helps me fall asleep and stay asleep for the night, unless I had a nightmare of course, but those seem to be getting less frequent now. I also use the unit to mediate which is wonderful and very relaxing. The David Delight Pro replaced LENS treatments for me and I feel it is every bit as affective and while it might be a large fee upfront it has more then paid itself off after a few months of use. I have been using this unit daily for several months now. This machine is worth every dime. I wish I had found it while I was still young, but I will be forever grateful I found it at all. I now get to enjoy a portion of my life in thanks to its inventors. If you don’t have an hour each day I would like to point out that there are many days that I am rushed and can only listen for 20 Min. on such days. I still receive wonderful results, but I still prefer my hour-long sessions. Recommended Reading: The Book: Back In Control by Dr. David Hanscom This book explains your brain, and your fight or flight system, how PTSD Works, something I had been diagnosed with but didn’t really understand until I read this book. It also explains the how and why we develop it. It’s a truly amazing read. While I don’t normally read these types of books I honestly think this should be required reading in school simply because it is so insightful and explains the human brain in an amazing straightforward fashion, and it’s empowering to understanding your own brain and your own diagnosis. With the help of this book, and using my David Delight Pro to bring relief I can see and feel the difference in my daily life. For instance if something startled me before I was already being bathed in Cortisol from my long term PTSD, but now with the David Delight Pro to bring me relief each day I can now isolate the events that set off these attacks within me, understanding these events and what sets them off helps me in my recovery. I have found my anxiety is actually from my PTSD and what I have come to call “Cortisol Attacks” at this point. I can now feel the release when something scares me or sets off an attack. It’s my own thing and probably doesn’t make sense but it’s still what I like to call it. This unit also works for me during these attacks as well: Mental Shock if googled comes up with this definition: Acute stress reaction (also called acute stress disorder, psychological shock, mental shock, or simply shock) is a psychological condition arising in response to a terrifying or traumatic event, or witnessing a traumatic event that induces a strong emotional response within the individual. In conclusion: While everyone is going to respond differently to different treatments or methods I feel that my experiences over several months was so profound it was worth writing a review in hopes of helping someone that might also be suffering to any degree. While I can’t guarantee it will work for everyone I do think it is worth a try if you are suffering. This device to me personally has given me a life to live instead of just surviving.
