I bought two 6" mattresses for an Ikea daybed and they fit perfectly. This bed is a guest bed so I don't need an expensive mattress. Besides, if guests are too comfortable they won't leave ;-) I love this whole set up. I can have a twin bed or a king without taking up extra space in the spare bedroom that we also use as an exercise room and craft room. One tip to fitting the mattresses together as a king is to lift up the inside edges, match them together, and then push the mattresses down onto the bed and they'll zipper together nice and level.
