Give it some thought...
Cell Phone Tripod Adapter - Bluetooth Remote Control - Travel Bag - iPhone Tripod Mount SE 6S 6 Plus 5S 5C 5 4s 4, Galaxy S7 S6 S5 S4 S3 S2 more Cell Phone Tripod Mount Clip Holder - DaVoice® (Black) Ok, so I had a tripod. And I had a car rollbar mount. But I needed both and adapter to screw my smartphone to, as well as something to control my phone remotely when I go to the track without having to look at the screen. So I picked this bundle with the smarphone holder and bluetooth remote. I am surprised to say the tripod adapter works very well. It's strong. Strong enough to hold my Galaxy S7 with Mophie case strong. Satisfied with that, enter the bluetooth remote. Ok, so, pairing it was an "ok" process. Didn't need to do much but open the bluetooth app, and turn on the remote. HOWEVER, this is where it gets interesting! Every few seconds, the remote would intermittently shut off and power back on and re-pair. So, I thought...hmmmm, strange. So, I open the back cover to reveal a CR2032 coin cell battery. Ok, I tested the voltage and found it to be 2.9VDC. Ok, that should be fine. So, I looked closer at the area where it gets inserted. The pin that comes up over the side of the battery was smashed under where the negative was. So it was making a very poor and light connection to the very edge of the battery. Ok, no problem, so I took a small flatheat screwdriver and bent it back up and into shape. Carefully inserted battery back into the holding area. And it fit like a glove. That took care of the dropping out issue. (Mind you this remote WILL power down after a couple minutes of activity on it's own to conserve battery life). Ok, next problem. I launch the stock camera app (because most people use stock camera apps). And while it will take a picture fine, there is no way I could take a video because of how the Android system is set up now. The video app is part of the camera app, so there is no separate video record button. So I thought, what a bummer. UNTIL, I realized that one button on the remote will capture a picture (activates the shutter button), and the other button (in this case the iOS button) would increase the volume of the phone....strange. BUT, I went into the camera settings, and found an option that said to record when the volume up button was pressed...AH HAH! So I enabled that option, and low and behold...my remote will now envoke videos as well as take pictures. Very nice....so I was able to make it do what I wanted. So all in all, great purchase for a good price. It just took some investigation to figure out a couple of issues I ran into. Sorry for the long review, but I am hoping this helps others figure out some stuff on their own as well if they run into the same problem as me. Happy camera shooting everyone! =)
