If anyone had told me that I would be giving five stars to an upright vacuum cleaner, I would have laughed in disbelief. After having so many different upright vacuum cleaners over my lifetime, I had decided to give up on them and just use a canister style. I found that pushing and pulling the uprights caused back pains. I also never felt as though I had the right setting for the rugs and carpets. The uprights just seemed to be more trouble than they were worth to me, especially when the belts broke or the bag style was discontinued. However, I was always intrigued by the Oreck ads touting the lightweight uprights. Yet, whenever I thought about getting one, I found that the number of different models made it difficult to choose which might be the most appropriate for my needs. Amazon made it easy for me when this model became a deal of the day. Before that, I would not even have thought about getting a commercial model. Since it seemed to have all the features that I liked, long cord, permanent belt, multi floor surface cleaning and a helping hand handle, I decided to take a chance and order this upright. This vacuum exceeded my expectations. It does easily move from carpeting to area rugs to tile floor and there are no settings that need changing. The only problem I had at first was when I accidentally ran it over the fringe end of an area rug. It immediately stopped when the fringe caught. I had no trouble moving it off the fringe and restarting it and I learned to stay away from those edges. I have never had an upright that I could so easily use under a king size bed. This vacuum easily goes under the bed and allows me to sweep the entire area without hurting my back by trying to move the bed. The suction power is strong both with the advanced filtration bags and the regular bags. The assembly was easy. I just needed to remove two screws on the back along with a protective piece of plastic, insert the handle into the opening and replace the screws. This Oreck commercial vacuum has changed my mind about upright vacuums and I am so glad that I got it.
