I got this 16 cup size to store flour a year ago and it definitely holds a 5 lb. bag. I especially like the ease of use with the lid. Just make sure you wipe any flour off the rim of the container and lid to ensure a good seal every time. The seal appears to be doing the job as I haven't seen any pests in or around it. There's a bug that lives in flour and the first clue is holes that appears in the top of a stored flour container. I got this container, as a friend of mine did have the bugs (brought home from the store in the flour bag she kept in Tupperware) and it CREEPED me out. Well, now I've inherited Asian moths that I found in a bag of unopened rice in my pantry. The moths ATE THROUGH the soft plastic bag and made tiny web-like cases all in my pantry...it was like it happened overnight! So, I saw the tiny webs & holes in the bag of rice I got from the grocery store, and I noticed small, mottled holes in my cotton clothes; I believe these moths caused the damage. Really, people if you have the money, get the set and build on it as you can, or at least get these containers for your flour and rice and build from there, like I am doing. Always, check your bags of flour and rice and get them into heavy plastic containers with a quality seal ASAP. If there are bugs in the food, they will at least be contained and you can eliminate them quickly and report it to your grocery store. For now, I store anything in the freezer that could be contaminated, like egg noodles, macaroni, spaghetti, beans...
