Like a good corporate citizen, I've been buying the name-brand GE MWF filters for our GE Profile refrigerator every 6 months whenever the little reminder light comes on. Over the last 2 years the price on the GE filters has risen slightly, however since my last GE filter purchase 6 months ago, the price jumped up a whopping $15 (I paid $30 6 months ago)! And this wasn't just on on Amazon, but on every online retailer I could find. Is there a sudden shortage of block charcoal? :) Who knows. Anyway, instead of paying 33% more than I did 6 months ago for the same GE filter, I decided to give these a try. I followed the instructions on the box to install them and there have been no leaks - not a drop. After flushing about a half-gallon of water through, the water tastes fine. It does taste better than straight tap water - and no worse than when I install a new GE filter (and I do pay attention this stuff). The "increased flow" of these filters is no different than when I install a new GE filter to replace a used one. Looks like we found a winner.
