Nice panels, read more for installation tips
This turned in to much more of a project than I had first intended, mostly because I wanted a mounting method that would be completely removable. The biggest issue is that nothing really likes sticking to foam rubber! I tried several different double sided tape products, ultimately resulting in panels randomly falling off of the walls.
Out of frustration I consulted with a musician friend who shared the winning tip: hot glue card stock to the back of each panel and use command strips to attach the card stock to the wall. A bit time consuming, but the installation is rock solid. Several weeks without any panels leaping off of the wall! Any light card stock would work, use whatever is cheapest.
One tip: remove the panels from their overwrap and let them sit for at least 24 hours before installation. They are shipped compressed and their shape changes *a lot* as they expand. Your beautiful installation will look like a science project after a day if you fail to do so!
Another tip: buy or borrow a laser level. It makes the installation soooo much easier.
One last tip: if you’re mounting on a white wall, prep the wall with a grid pattern of black masking tape first. This makes the installation much more forgiving and prevents white from peeking through the gaps between panels.
