I used the shampoo and the conditioner for 10 washes. I did use a toning violet shampoo every 2 times because as others have said it will bring out a brassy tones. My hair is highlighted and the high lights didn't change much but you can see a good amount of change on my base color. I took the pictures on the same lighting with the same camera settings you can see they are not perfect but I do believe they show the change as accurately as I could photograph. I left the shampoo on for between one and 5 minutes before rinsing each time. I had no skin irritation and the smell is nice. My hair is soft and not fried. Very happy would recommend.
