The perfect wool companion
Many of the negative comments appear to be from people who were using these simply as socks and don't know how to properly incorporate them when hiking/backpacking. These liners are meant to be worn under a pair of wool socks, preferably Merino wool. They create a barrier between your skin and the wool material, which helps significantly reduce friction and sweating on your feet, and hence, helps prevent blisters or hot spots. These liners are supposed to be thin, otherwise your foot wouldn't fit in your preferred footwear coupled with the proper outer sock. For the few complaining about them ripping and tearing easily, one can deduce that there are three possible reasons: 1- The liner was purchased too small and is stretching out 2- The liner was used without a wool or other outer sock and is being torn by footwear or 3- It's time to clip your toenails and file down those rough spots on your feet I'm an experienced hiker/backpacker
