First off, I don't like flies. A friend recommended this product and said it worked really well. So I bought it. It sat in the box for a few weeks and I didn't think I'd get much use out of it. Then a fly a flew in the house. Not a big deal right? One fly, who cares? I care. I took it outside, added the bait/powder in the jar, put some warm water in there and, I kid you not, within 30 seconds a fly landed on the lid. It didn't go inside the trap and it could have been a total coincidence, but the trap seemed to be working. The sun went down and the trap had been out a few hours, but there were a good five or six flies in there. Pretty good start. The next morning, there were about 12 or 15 flies in the trap. Cool. Now I don't know what the bait in the trap is made out of, but once the flies come in and die the smell gets exponentially worse. More concentrated. By the way, the smell isn't that big of deal. Don't keep it by your windows and doors and it'll be fine. Even if you can't stand the smell, just power through it for a few days and reduce your fly population. For the greater good. Okay, so this thing started filling up with flies. Mind you, I didn't have a "fly problem" I just wanted to keep a few flies out of the house. I filled it up with more water to the "fill level" and more flies came in. Then more flies. Then more flies. Add more water. More flies. More flies. Seriously in the few weeks I've had it, thousands of flies. I bought another one and I'm going to buy another. Now it gets gross. It was practically full of flies. I guess some of them laid eggs in the trap cause there are maggots in there now. It's gross, but I can't help but look at it in disgust and horror. My wife and I fired up the grill for the Fourth of July. Not one fly on our food or in the house. They're all busy dying and laying eggs in the trap. Just buy it already.
