Q70T review
As a person with a normal job that doesn't professionally write reviews, I felt compelled to write one about this soundbar. First and foremost, it's frustrating that this Amazon product page conflates the reviews of the Q60, the Q70 and the Q800 (not 80? seriously, what's with Samsung's marketing division?). So all the ratings are all clumped together. A bunch of reviews complain about bass not being strong enough and that had me somewhat concerned initially, for example. As it turns out, I own a home with a decent if not huge living room (bigger than my previous apartments, however) and I get adequate bass from the Q70t and sub-woofer (for non experts, placement of the sub-woofer matters - ideally in a corner so the bass can reverberate off the walls - one potential issue), but the Q60 might not have sufficient bass. Can't comment on the Q800 obviously. So on with the review with the caveat of the product commingling out of the way. I'm very satisfied with this soundbar for this pricepoint. The sound is really crisp and clear. I considered the quality to be much better than I was expecting. Atmos programs enjoy decent surround simulation in my opinion. I don't think anything really can truly replace physically displaced speakers in 5.1+ but this soundbar does an adequate job in lieu of spatially located separate speakers. I do occasionally look behind me for a noise and then remember this soundbar has surround capabilities. If you really get into having a home theater, nothing's going to beat a true surround system, but for the price and lack of cables this is a really appealing option. For perspective, I had a $100 soundbar and the difference in quality is both stark and drastic. Important things to note if you want to get the most of these soundbars, make sure not to place it on top of a surface, unobstructed to the ceiling. Placing in on the middle shelf of a media cabinet will be extremely counterproductive to the surround emulation. Also, perform a firmware update. Before doing so, I had to turn off the soundbar any time I either switched audio modes (not apps) so if I was watching a netflix show with Atmos encoding and then went to a different show within Netflix that didn't, I'd have to restart the soundbar for it to play again. All sorts of quirky behavior was solved via that update, it's truly essential. In short, if you're looking for a reasonably priced, good-quality soundbar, I'm personally quite happy with mine and recommend it for others!
