I always have this in the house, because I have a mean dog - a mixed breed guy pulled from the local pound. He’s been mean spirited ever since he hit about puberty. No joke. He went from a sweet, red dopey pup to a sly, conspiratorial bully. I have four dogs, and he's the biggest at about 70 pounds. The big mean dog also owns me. He’s like an abuser - follows me from room to room, watching. Often stares and growls at me for no reason I can’t understand from his big plush doggy bed when I’m getting ready for bed at night. He stands on the back porch staring at the door when he’s out. The other dogs play, he stares. If someone comes over, he does the same thing to the visitor. Stares, and drools. Owns them. It’s obnoxious and troubling because he’s so big. He’s not mean to the visitor but tries to dominate them by crawling into their seat or leaning hard on their legs. All while growling, and then snapping, at me. As a result I keep calming aid in the house at all times. I dose the dog depending on whether I’m having company (2-3) or a delivery person must come inside (1). He takes it when it storms and around July Fourth. Sometimes, he gets one when he seems especially agitated and is growling at my three other dogs for no obvious reason. There is no aftereffect and he gobbles up the little cubes. Without this ‘treat” this dog might not have made it with us this far. But I will give hm every chance to live a good life.
