A great set with a few issues that are not worth a whole star
I was going to dock it a star for reasons I will get into later in my review, but I love this set too much to do it. Take it from someone that has used resistance bands for many years, this is a really great set. I have used other, cheaper, sets, and I can attest to the carnage of the broken bands left in the corner. I know how to use resistance bands, so a broken band does not lead to an injury and an embarrassing YouTube video. I used to go to the gym, but lets face it your going there with a bunch of strangers sweating all over everything. I used free weights at home, but bars benches etc just clutter everything up. I also guarantee, that I have never stubbed my toe on a resistance band. The reasons that I now prefer resistance bands is because they are light weight, portable, low impact, provide flexible resistance, and provide resistance in both directions just to name a few. Now, on to what I like and dislike about this set. It has enough bands, straps and anchors that I do not have to change set ups and resistances for different exercises. (I set up different stations by using a door anchor on the top and bottom of the door, and attach the small anywhere anchor to the front of my elliptical). The resistance weight is clearly printed on each band. The handles are slip resistant, and non absorbent (foam gets nasty after a while). I purchased it in August and no bands have snapped yet(The cheaper sets would have 3-4 bands break by now). The set comes in a nice gym bag, so it is like a workout in a bag. You could put the entire thing or just the parts you need in your luggage, so you do not have to change your workout routine while traveling.
Now a few things that rub me the wrong way: which segues(no not the 2 wheel thing) right into my first complaint. Those nylon canvas things that they use to attach the band to the clips will rub the hide off of you,(it might be a good thing if your looking to build up callouses on your arms or chest) depending on how you use them. The canvas naturally increases in size with the thickness of the bands, so the 30 lb is pretty big. They also absorb sweat and they start getting nasty. (see pic compared to an unused band. I don't know if that is salt or the hide off of my arms, but nasty either way). The clips are sturdy but they are poorly coated. The coating wears off quickly then the clips start corroding from the sweat(see pic compared to unused band). Also, be careful, the end of the moving part of the clip can be sharp on some of them(see pic). The loops on the handles seem huge, and quickly become obtrusive. If you are one of those folks that are attaching 12 bands to them, I guess the size can't be helped, but regular people will only get annoyed by those big hula hoops on the end of your handles(see pic OK, they are not that big, but they seem so when they are getting caught and digging into your arms). As I said, I didn't think these issues were worthy of docking a set I am so pleased with an entire star. For the most part you can avoid the issues by altering how you perform the exercises(except the nasty canvas and cheap clips. Geez use better clips). Other thoughts? I don't like standing on the bands in sneakers during certain exercises. I wish they would have provided a sleeve or something to stand on to protect the band. Also the loop on the anchors are pretty smooth, so the bands will easily slide when alternating arms, or just exercising, leading to uneven resistance if your not careful. I put a little Velcro strap around the bands to prevent the bands from sliding one way or the other(see pic). Works for me.
I still without reserve, recommend this set.
