Great recipe! Hint of tea
Great recipe! Hint of tea This can be made many ways, different amounts of sugar, taro powder, tea, creamer, etc to liking. For me I used these few things: For the tea: - 1 bag of lipton favorite plain tea -2 packets of basic non dairy creamer (powder- would be about 2 tablespoons when dumped out) -1 tablespoon of sugar Get 1 cup (the red measuring cup was used) of hot/boiling water and put it into a cup, add the tea bag. Cover with a lid and let seep for about 5 minutes. Ring out the tea bag and throw away. Add in the sugar and non dairy creamer, mix then refrigerate. (You will be adding this into the taro mixture later) Taro mixture: - 4-5 tablespoons of Taro powder - 3 cups (red one shown filled the plastic glass fully) of 2% milk Put the milk into a pan on low heat to cause the milk to warm up, it doesn't need to boil and you don't want it to burn. Mix frequently, when warm add in your taro powder. You can add however much taro you want, it can even be added in cold before blending without becoming grainy. Allow it to refrigerate and become cold. Boba pearls: - handful of boba pearls or however many you prefer - boiling water - sugar Bring water to a boil with the boba in the pan. Allow them to become bigger and fully soft (usually 5-10 minutes). After they're soft drain the water and put the boba into the cup you'll be drinking with, sprinkle some sugar on top of them and allow them to cool down (if you put them in the fridge sadly they become hardened so my advice is to make them just before you're ready to blend and drink your drink). Finally add the tea mixture into the taro mixture, add ice to your liking (I only used a few cubes as I like light ice). Blend in a bullet blender or any you have. At this point if it doesn't taste sweet enough you can add in more taro powder or sugar, mix well with a spoon to avoid clumping and blend some more to get any grainy texture out. Pour over your boba and enjoy :) make sure you have a very wide straw to suck up the boba with. I hope this helps someone. To me it wasn't too sweet and I can taste the hint of the Lipton tea added which made it taste a lot better than the plain over-powering taste of the taro alone. Servings: 2 tall glasses as shown, about 3/4 filled each. If you'd prefer to make 2 full tall glasses to the rim add in an extra cup of milk to the taro (along with more powder), and 1/2 cup to 1 full cup more of the Lipton tea. Experiment to your liking- I ended up having 1 cup extra (which is shown in my second picture) because I didn't fill my cup fully up). 3 cups was enough for me and my husband, although I made 4 cups of liquid.
