First Impressions
I received my couch today, and here are my first impressions:
1) For the money, the couch is a good value. The surface is nothing special, but it looks nice. I've seen much cheaper looking couches sold for more money than this one.
2) It arrived in good shape. The box had a moderate sized puncture, but it didn't make it through to the actual couch, so I think it is safe to say the packaging was adequate.
3) The couch is very firm. If you want a couch you are going to sink into, this definitely isn't the model for you.
4) Assembly was easy. The only thing you need to do is slide the three seat cushions onto posts. When I first did this, they were a little crooked, but when I re-positioned them, they were fine.
5) The recline function of the end seats works fine. I'm 6'1", and the lengths of the seat back and leg rest is a little short for me in full recline mode, but that is pretty much the norm with all these types of reclining couches that I've seen. It's a normal trade off for a couch style recliner. Better support for taller people typically requires a standalone, over-sized recliner.
6) The recliner moves more forward than backwards, so you don't have to keep the couch super far from the wall to use the reclining feature.
7) The couch is heavy. The shipping weight was over 200 lbs, and even without the packing material, it took two strong guys to move it.
8) The only potential concern I see is with the shipping terms. The couch arrived unannounced, so I had to run home from work to meet the driver. He said the shipping terms did not allow him to remove it from the truck, but he did so anyway to help me out. You may not be so lucky, and given that the packaged couch weighs over 200 lbs, that could be a real problem.
