I've always been a huge believer in treating the root cause and not the symptom. When I adopted my puppy from the shelter, he was extremely fearful -- he was definitely not appropriately socialized, and judging by some of his behaviors and reactions to stimuli, he may very well have suffered from abuse. It was an uphill battle. I had the challenge of showing him that the world is not all a scary place. This started at home with his fear of doors, hands, cars, cellphones, the dishwasher, collars, harnesses, leashes, garbage bins, chairs, brushes, the doggy door -- if it existed, he was probably afraid of it. He's made leaps and bounds since then, an absolute joy to work with and train. However, I suspected that he had some sensitivities or anxieties because, despite all of my training, he was still easily distracted with noises from outside -- perhaps the neighbors bringing out their trash, cars pulling into their driveways, airplanes flying up ahead. He always seemed to be on edge. I figured that I ought to at least try something to curb the anxiety, just to see if I could improve his quality of life. I sought out these treats. To be fair, I had tried other hemp treats before at a dosage that was lower than recommended because he was so young and new to the household, but those only helped a little. When they ran out, I wanted to try them at full dosage now that he's 10 months old. I was here to buy another container, but PremiumCare was much cheaper and with the same ingredients, so I thought, "Why not?" It's been about a week. I have a different dog. I'm always trying different training techniques to boost my pup's confidence, so I can't say that these treats are the only variable thrown into the mix of our daily routine, but I can say that his sound sensitivity to outdoor noises has improved tremendously. I am now able to work on desensitization and counter-conditioning, whereas before he could barely focus on me in the presence of activity outside. He also seems less afraid as I'm working with things he's previously feared. I think these treats at the right dosage have helped him relax to a point where he is now able to focus on learning as opposed to being afraid all of the time. After all, human or dog, we don't learn well when we're anxious or stressed. I am very pleased with this product and highly recommend that you at least give it a try -- it couldn't hurt!
