50250-s noise level compared to 17000
I purchased this air purifier to filter our basement and two smaller Honeywell model 17000's to purify the bedrooms. I was worried about the noise level as I have read many complaints about both being too noisy, while some said it was just right. I only found official noise rating for the 50250 and Honeywell claims it noise level is 35/45/57 db (low/med/high), but I couldn't find anything on the smaller 17000. So I thought I would do a quick demo video so everyone who is on the fence can hear it for themselves.
50250 Pros:
-purifies the air in large rooms quickly
-easy to maintain
-prefilter is inexpensive, and you can just vacuum it out
-low power usage
-quiet enough not to disturb while on low
50250 Cons:
-very noisy on high, but its to be expected its moving large amounts of air
-large, but that's to be expected with such a massive filter
For the video I filmed using my iPhone at 8' away and 3.5' off the ground. I also ran a sound meter to record db during operation. The room baseline was 44db (only central air running).
Noise test comparison (high/med/low setting):
Honeywell 50250-s: 57/52/45
Honeywell 17000: 49/47/45
