I have tried those boil-it-yourself mouth guards and spent nights endlessly gagging on the things coz they're so needlessly huge. I gave Encore a shot and had very low expectations. I grind and clench my teeth pretty badly, so I went for the dual layer guard. The description said it would be 3mm so my thought was "oh boy, it's gonna be just like those $5 drugstore guards". I got the stuff to make a mold, followed the instructions, got approval from Encore after sending the pictures in, and sent the mold to their lab using the shipping package they sent me. Encore kept me informed throughout the process and I received my guard within two weeks. I LOVE this thing. It was so comfortable from day one and the hard outer layer actually stops me from grinding and clenching my teeth instead of just providing a protective layer. The guard is not bulky at all. It is very thin and comfortable to wear. I highly recommend this guard!
