Dansko clogs are designed to fit with wiggle room in the toe box and in the heel cup. It's always been that way. Your heel is supposed to lift smoothly up from the sole. This goes back to the day when all Dansko clogs had wooden soles. "Smoothly" is the key. There should be some slight friction, but not enough to cause discomfort beyond the breaking-in period. The Maria Boot either will fit or it won't. You'll know the difference, so don't keep them hoping they'll miraculously shape to your feet because you love them so much. And you will love them! But trust your intuition, your experience, and the way they feel & look. However... many reviewers said your usual size will be too big, and I agree. I strictly wear a 9.5, or a European 40. I looked everywhere for a 39 in Taupe & was losing heart until I found a couple of "Used" 39's. Ordered Thursday, got them Saturday, and inspected for any signs of wear (none), defect (ditto), or anything "off" (nothing). Put them on & haven't taken them off (alas, I do have to go to bed). The Taupe is exactly the color you want it to be. They are simple but unique. They're lightweight. And, I think they look perfect (& sexy) under my jeans or tucked in. Yay!!!
