Contrary to other reviews, this bag does not smell bad. It has the distinctive aroma of leather, but does not overwhelm. The bag is well-packaged, having taken me about 15 minutes to cut the protective coverings off all the hardware. I love the protective bag that it came in, and I am excited to load it up for a weekend trip in a month or so. More to come if any problems, but I am not anticipating any.
