Works in and emergency, noted damage to house siding when practicing
As September is Disaster Preparedness month, I though it would be wise to practice going up and down the ladder with the family. As it is primarily for the kids end of the house, the kids, ranging in age from 18 (190lbs) to 11 (90lbs) practiced climbing up and down. Yes, its a bit wobbly, yes,it works. Important note (and the reason for the 4 stars vs 5 stars)! As the picture shows, the metal edges of the steps are sharp, and will dig into the side of your house as people go down, causing damage to the paint and puncture marks in the siding of the house. Additionally, one of the red caps at the hook (windowsill) end of the ladder came off while we were practicing, gouging the finish below the windowsill. Yes, the ladder will work in an emergency, however, beware, when you practice (and do practice), the ladder will cause damage to the side of your house.
