Having read the reviews for many different vacuum seal units I decided to get this inexpensive V2244 with just the basic vac and seal. First of all, read the instructions. They are not as detailed as they should be but do point out some important things to remember. DON"T over fill the bags or make the bag too small. Trying to save money by stuffing the bags will not work. The bags need to lay flat in the vacuum and heat seal strip to work properly. No puckers or folds! DO make sure the area of the bag that will heat seal is clean and dry. Any moisture in this area will compromise the seal. This is especially true with oil or grease. If there is oil on the seal area don't waste your time trying to seal it. You can't clean the oil from the plastic well enough without some kind of soap so just use another bag and keep it clean. It also helps to lay the bag on a cutting board or book to keep the bag and sealer on the same plane so that everything starts out flat. With some common sense and practice this sealer works fine.
