Compared to the Sentry Flea Comb
My Maltese mix dog’s long hair seems to attract all sorts of grass fleas, gnats, pollen, etc. Whenever we come in from a walk, I like to run a fine comb through her fur to be sure that no unwanted visitors make their way into the house. This Safari comb’s double row of teeth does trap fleas or gnats very well. However, especially during pollen season, it is difficult for me to determine what the specs between the teeth might actually be. I do keep a jar of soapy water on the grooming table to rinse the comb after use. An old toothbrush also helps to clear the comb’s teeth since bits of debris or pollen tend to get trapped also. I also have the Sentry comb Sentry Flea Comb for Dogs which, for everyday use, I prefer to use. The teeth on the Sentry comb are longer which does help when combing a long haired dog. Also, the single row of teeth makes it easier to see what I am combing out of her hair. Both combs can be useful but if you are looking for a comb primarily to trap fleas, this Safari comb will do a better job of that. If, on the other hand, you need a fine comb that will easily remove pollen, grass pieces, etc. along with the occasional flea or gnat, the long toothed Sentry comb excels at the task.
