This is my favorite vacuum of all I've ever owned! It's very light (10 lbs.), quiet, glides over the carpeting and floor almost effortlessly, HAS ATTACHMENTS (unlike the Oreck XL I had before), picks up great, and was inexpensive. (I bought mine on sale at K-Mart for $119.99). It never loses suction (like my last vacuum did starting with the first use of each new bag), is super easy to empty and never needs bags. The brush roller has its own motor which you can turn on for carpeting and off for floors. It also stops when you park the vacuum with the main motor on. For a big house you might want a vacuum with a wider swath and larger dirt collector, but they also weigh more. I've had everything from Dirt Devils to Kirbys and for up to a few rooms I think this little Shark is great! :-))
