I'd gone to a barber, but my hair grows pretty fast, so I expected to make the trip about once a week (@ $12 a cut.) The clippers are less than $20 & include color-coded guards, so you really can't mess up unless you have an extremely unsteady hand. This is my first cut. I lined it up w/o a guard, went over the lines, then took down the sides w/the 1/8" guard. The guards being color coded is VERY helpful. I'm even confident I could cut someone else's hair. I'm a pretty handy person, so I didn't expect to do a horrible job, but I can say this is the first time I'd ever cut my own hair. Worst case scenario I mess up & just go bald...that'd be easier to cut evenly, lol.
