I have installed dozens of Insinkerator Badger 5 garbage disposals (1/2 HP), and my customers were happy with the price and performance. However, within the past year, several of the disposals have developed leaks in the grinding chamber causing water to enter the electrical compartment. I switched to Waste King based on Consumer Reports ratings, and now recommend them exclusively to my customers. The L-2600 is a perfect choice if price is an issue. If not, I recommend the L-8000 (1 HP) model that has a lifetime, in-home warranty. Both disposals have removable splashguards and come with a lifetime corrosion warranty. Waste King disposals are actually easier to install than Insinkerator if you read the instructions carefully. They do make a different sound when running. Some customers find them louder while others find them quieter. Amazon has the best prices for Waste King disposals. Update: I installed an L2600 disposal yesterday, 3/6/19, and noticed the EZ Mount flange was plain stainless steel without the Waste King etched logo on it. I called Waste King, and they said a design change had been made to their flanges that are now brushed stainless. The in-home warranty is still 5 years, and Amazon’s current price of $67.19 is very cheap for this fine product.
