before handing this over to my kid, i wanted to do a test run as we have the competing vtech already. here are my thoughts/opinions (im only mentioning things that are different/better/worse. if not mentioned, it is b/c it's the same or there was no difference in performance.. eg, stopwatch, clock) DESIGN: orbo +1 -better materials -rotating camers (very cool) vtech +1 -more colors SOFTWARE: vtech +1 -not a glitchy -better games, more games -most likely better software updates/support b/c theyve been around longer and presumably a larger company orbo +1 -more options for faces orbo -1 -said 3 games, but there are only 2. they are too simple and older kids will get bored and little kids will get bored really fast. -sound will sometime randomly stop working, need to move up/down menus to get it to work FUNCTIONALITY orbo +1 -has bluetooth (i did test this. pairing was easy and i made a call. call has to be initiated from phone and can be answered from watch. once connected, you can hear clearly but when speaking, you have to put your mouth VERY close to the watch near the 6 o'clock area. even then the other party had a hard time hearing. but to me, it's more spy-like and who wants everyone to hear the secrets things you're saying?) -playing music on the watch through bluetooth worked well. -expandable memory (very cool), comes with 1GB (good amount, way more than vtech) -rotating camera vtech -1 -no bluetooth OVERALL - for 37.99, you cant go wrong with either one. i would give the edge to the orbo for older kids b/c of the camera, expandable memory, and bluetooth. for me, the rotating camera and the bluetooth are the best features... your kid will feel like a real PI or spy with the camera and making calls.. playing music to the watch is cool too. i can overlook the other negative and recommend the orbo over the vtech b/c of these 2 features. This product was provided at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.
