Amazing flavor and a great deal!
My family and I eat a ton of popcorn! I've tried many different brands and this so far has the best flavor and was a great bargain. I'll list what I like and don't like about it:
The good:
-Taste: The taste of this is superior to any others I have tried. It made my popcorn taste very similar to movie theater popcorn. In fact, the product is obviously manufactured for commercial use since on the carton it says "for better popcorn profits..." and lists some hints on how to make more off selling popcorn. I've tried many other popcorn seasonings, my 2nd favorite is Jolly Time Buttery Seasoning. I've also tried Jonny's popcorn salt and Kernel Season's Popcorn seasoning, both of which I don't care for at all. This is far superior in the taste department!
-Price: There's no way you can beat the price. I paid $5.88 (I see the price is a little higher right now, but still reasonable). It comes in a 2 pound (or 35oz) carton. My other seasonings I paid $3-6 for and their size ranges from 2.85-6oz. This is definitely the most bang for your buck.
The bad:
-Extremely high sodium content: I was very annoyed when I wanted to buy this and tried to find nutrition facts and an ingredients list. It kind of raised a red flag for me when in the description it said "The "secret" ingredient movie theaters don't want you to know". That sounds unhealthy. I looked on Amazon, Googled it and tried to find it on their website with no success. I was happy when the product came to find out all the info I was looking for. I'll list the nutrition facts here for anyone who wants to know:
Serving size: 1 tsp (7g)
Total fat: 0
Sodium 2,740mg (114% of the daily value!!!)
Total carbohydrate: 0g
Protein: 0g
So, I compared the sodium content to my favorite Jolly Time seasoning, it has 2,160mg per tsp. Jonny's has 1,500mg and Kernels has 320mg per tsp. That's quite a difference. If you have any medical conditions that require you to watch your sodium, this seasoning might not be the right one for you. Granted, we all use much less the 1 tsp on our batches of popcorn, but I wanted to point that out since I couldn't find the information anywhere prior to ordering.
-Packaging: It's very difficult to pour the right amount of seasoning out of a carton. I bought a little $1.99 salt shaker to use. Actually, I bought 4 shakers and filled on up for my family members so everyone could enjoy this seasoning. So, I'm not counting this against them that it comes in this packaging since it's obviously made for commercial use, but I recommend you buy a cheap shaker and use that.
Overall, I love the taste and the price is right. I caution anyone who is watching their sodium content to either use very sparingly or to try other brands first. I use this with my Presto PowerPop and a little olive oil and find it to be almost equivalent to movie theater popcorn, but much healthier. I will put all my other seasonings in the back of my pantry and use this one. I would've also appreciated if I could've located ingredients and/or nutrition facts prior to ordering, but I have it now and am really enjoying it.
