It would have helped for them to include a small piece of paper with instructions. The bolts need to be installed first to the toilet, then the seat hinges turned to unlock position, then the seat placed in position with hinges on top of the bolt head. The hinges then need to be turned to lock it in place. Easy when you know what to do, but not obvious. This is a new type of design and different from the traditional bolts that are installed by passing through the hinges. The finish of the seat is good. 12 month update. The hinges are doing fine. The finish is okay in general. Make sure though that you don’t splash any toilet bowl cleaner on the seat. It leaves marks (in our case it was Lysol toilet bowl cleaner, so left blue streaks and spits where it might have spilled). The marks can not be removed. So you just have to live with them.
