Great Travel Companion
I travel 6-7 months a year working nuclear plants, many times living in hotels 5-8 weeks at a time. I prefer to cook my own meals so I travel with a rice cooker, toaster oven and my favorite basic kitchen utensils. The problem is the hotels/motels have the usual tiny fridges with the even tinier freezers (that don't work). Working 13 hour shifts leaves not much time to cook every day so I needed an advantage. I purchased the ARB 50qt Fridge/Freezer because of its reputation as a quality product. Now when I leave home I load it up with vacuum sealed frozen meats, etc and hit the road. I plug it into 12 volts in the back of the truck and then 120 volts at the hotel when I arrive. I can make fresh cooked meals from items I brought from home, make individual containers for daily lunch and dinners and re-freeze for later. On a recent work trip to Florida I carried many frozen items with me and brought 20 pounds of fresh caught frozen fish back home. I can keep the ARB Fridge/Freezer on 8 degrees F, keep many pounds of frozen items in the main area and place soda, beer, etc (16 cans) in the upper area (over the compressor) to stay ice cold without freezing. I have had the ARB Fridge / Freezer for about 24 months now and can honestly say it has been running (either in my truck, a hotel/motel, etc) for at least 14 of those 24 months. It works flawlessly every time, its easy to transport, easy to clean and has more than paid for itself in cost savings of buying meats etc in bulk, freezing them and traveling with them. I would definately buy another ARB in the future, but from what i have seen will likely not need another for many years to come!
