Don't buy if you are trying to sync with Amazon Echo (Alexa)!
I have the Amazon Echo and wanted to start investing in lighting that I could control with Alexa. My intention was to begin with a light strip and a few bulbs. I started to buy the starter kit with the A19 bulbs and quickly realized that I need the BR30s. I couldn't find a starter kit with the BR30s so I decided to opt for just the bridge and the light strip. I was super excited when they came. I got the bridge set up, downloaded the app and the light strip is very cool. (I have 2nd generation). Now the best part, syncing with Alexa...or so I thought. I kept getting the same feedback. Alexa couldn't find my device. I emailed Amazon and Philips. Philips emailed back and said they don't know anything about Echo. Amazon sent me troubleshooting steps. I went through all the trouble shooting. I called my cable company to check the router. Lastly I called Amazon. Come to find out the bridge IS NOT compatible with Alexa! The bridge they sell separately is different from the bridge they sell in the starter kit. Are you kidding me? What a waste of forty bucks. If you intend to use your Hue bridge with Alexa, don't buy this one because it won't work. I am super bummed.
